SOMOS will be starting their next recruitment process in Spring 2019 and new recruits will officially join the team in fall of 2019. Applications will be made available at this webpage around February 2019.

MANOS, our sister organization working in Nicaragua with the same theoretical and research framework will be recruiting in both the fall and spring semesters. See their website here:

SOMOS is searching for freshmen and sophomores of all majors interested in taking part in a long-term, research-based community development and health partnership in the Dominican Republic. The team involves a weekly academic seminar, weekly project meeting, and three trip opportunities throughout the school year.

Students seeking experiences involving systematic social science research, technological skills such as GIS and GPS, exposure to statistical analysis software, information management, and interdisciplinary work in fields ranging from environmental science to public health are highly encouraged to apply.

Fluency in Spanish is highly regarded, though not required.

A select number of applicants will be asked to go through an interview process. Accepted applicants will be officially joining the team and will be enrolling in the class in fall 2019
